We are excited to announce that WPExperts has acquired the ‘Password Protected’ plugin from its ex-owner, Ben Huson. It is a useful plugin to provide a simple way to quickly password protect your WordPress site with a single password.
Password Protected has 300,000+ active installs as it allows an administrator to set a password to protect their WordPress site. It includes just a handful of options, such as toggling access to feeds, allowing REST API access, and disabling password requirements for administrators.
The plugin acquisition news was exclusively covered by WPTavern. While giving an interview with WPTavern, WPExperts’ CEO, Mr. Saad Iqbal, shared his future plans for the Password Protected plugin.
#1 Make this plugin more developer-friendly by adding more actions and filter hooks so the dev community can easily play around.
#2 Display the option to redirect to the login window. If someone with an admin role visits the protected page, we can display something like: If you are an admin of this site, please click here to log in, or if you are an existing user, click here to log in.
#3 We can add support for more user roles apart from the Administrator, as it is currently, to make it more flexible.
Mr. Saad Iqbal also ensured that a dedicated team of developers and business analysts would take care of the Password Protected plugin and its users concerned.
